Overview

Staff Physician at multiple levels to provide outpatient and call services to Human Genetics patients at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center. The role provides safe and effective medical care and helps advance clinical patient care and outcomes for infant, children, and adolescent patients, supporting their mental and physical growth and development. The physician may elect to participate in the training and education of residents, fellows, and other learners.

Responsibilities
  • Patient Care – Perform direct patient care of pediatric patients within the scope of the medical license, education and experience. Examine patients to determine presence of disease, establish preventive health practices, diagnose, prescribe and administer medications and immunizations, perform procedures, collect and analyze data, and make decisions regarding patient care, including initial screening, assessment, diagnosis, prognosis, care, reassessment, and discontinuation of care. Formulate and maintain a patient‑specific plan for care, treatment and rehabilitation; coordinate care for discharged patients; and, if a subspecialist, establish a local or regional referral base.
  • Clinical Excellence – Participate in ongoing educational activities for continued enhancement of clinical expertise.
  • Effective Communication – Exchange appropriate patient care and clinical information when patients are admitted, referred, transferred or discharged; provide data that contributes to the assessment of a patient’s needs and the organization’s capability to provide care.
  • Training and Education – Participate in the training and education of medical students, residents, fellows, faculty, community physicians and staff; attend clinical rounds, medical lectures, grand rounds and other conferences as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Staff Physician Level2 – Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (or equivalent); unrestricted licensed physician; approval/credentialing from CCHMC Medical Staff Services Division; 2years related experience. Preferred: Board certification in pediatrics, Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support, CPR skill, knowledge of growth and development, family‑centered care, clinical knowledge, pathophysiology, pharmacology, patient and family education, leadership and communication skills.
  • Staff Physician Level3 – Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (or equivalent); unrestricted licensed physician; approval/credentialing from CCHMC Medical Staff Services Division; 5years related experience at Staff Physician Level2 or equivalent external experience. Preferred: board certification in pediatrics, Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support, CPR skill, knowledge of growth and development, family‑centered care, clinical knowledge, pathophysiology, pharmacology, patient and family education, leadership, research methods, and excellent communication skills.
