deciBel Research, Inc. in Colorado Springs, CO is seeking a Human Factors Engineer to support the Ground Based Midcourse Defense (GMD) Program. You will contribute to the design and development of the GMD Fire Control UI/UX within the GWS program.

The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor's or Master's in psychology, human factors, UI/UX, or related field, with DoD experience and the ability to travel up to 10% as needed. Active Secret clearance and U.S. citizenship are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's in psychology, human factors, UI/UX, human computer interaction, or related field.
• 2 years of related experience or Master's with 0 years, within 10 years total.
• Fundamental understanding of HFE principles for software-centric systems.
• Experience developing qualitative and quantitative user assessments methods.
• Experience collecting and analyzing end-user feedback to drive a product backlog.
• Ability to develop journey maps, user flows, task analysis, or equivalents.
• Experience with UI design, e.g. wireframes and mockups.
• Strong verbal/written communications across technical teams.
• Willingness to travel up to 10%.
• DoD experience with user-centered UI/UX for complex systems.

Job description

deciBel Research has an immediate opening for a Human Factors Engineer in Colorado Springs, CO.

Position Description:

The selected candidate will become part of the Ground Based Midcourse Defense (GMD) Program in support of the GMD Weapon System (GWS) for the Missile Defense Agency. GMD employs integrated communications networks, fire control systems, globally deployed sensors and Ground-Based Interceptors that are capable of detecting, tracking, and destroying ballistic missile threats. The open position is in support of the design and development of the GMD Fire Control (GFC) product within the GWS program.

Target salary range: $70,000-$90,000. This target salary represents an estimated range for this position based on experience, degree and other factors.

Education Requirements:

Bachelor's or Master's Degree in psychology, human factors, User Interface (UI) / User Experience (UX) design, human computer interaction, or other related field

Experience Requirements:

• Bachelor's or Master's Degree in psychology, human factors, User Interface (UI) / User Experience (UX) design, human computer interaction, or other related field with 2 years of related experience, or a Master's degree with 0 years of related experience, not to exceed 10 years
• Fundamental understanding of HFE principles as applied to software-centric system development.
• Experience developing and administering qualitative and quantitative user assessments methods
• Demonstrated experience collecting and analyzing end-user feedback/data (both formative and summative) to drive a product backlog.
• Demonstrated experience developing journey maps, user flows, task analysis, or equivalent
• Demonstrated experience with User Interface (UI) design, e.g. developing wireframes and mockups based on operator task-flows
• Possess strong verbal/written communications skills to work effectively in and across multiple technical teams with both collocated and geographically dispersed team members
• Strong problem-solving skills, exceptional curiosity, and a drive to constantly learn.
• Self-motivated and ability to work in a dynamic team environment while successfully juggling multiple competing priorities with limited direction
• Ability and willingness to travel up to 10% to support business needs
• Prior experience on a product team driving product backlog in coordinating with multiple scrum team product owners
• Prior working experience on an MDA program, higher preference for prior GMD experience
• Demonstrated experience working with diverse teams in an Agile environment
• DoD Experience with user-centered UI/UX design and/or user research for a complex system operated within a system of systems environment
• Prior experience supporting the development and assessment of a system against MIL-STD-1472 guidelines
• An innate desire and curiosity to learn more about the components of GMD, the end-users, and how they operate in a system of systems environment
