Job summary

The Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory (APL) seeks a summer intern to join the Operations & Analysis Group, helping multidisciplinary teams research and design innovative solutions for DoW challenges. You will interview users, observe contexts, synthesize data, and build low-fidelity prototypes, gaining hands-on experience in human-centered design and collaboration across disciplines.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a degree in Human-Centered Design, Design Thinking, or related field with a 3.0 GPA.
• Foundational understanding of human-centered design and systems thinking.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Work with cross-functional teams to develop concepts for sponsors.
• Immerse in the problem space through interviews and observations to understand user needs and context.
• Synthesize qualitative and quantitative data to uncover patterns and insights.
• Contribute to design workshops and co-creation sessions with users and stakeholders.
• Build low-fidelity prototypes and test ideas with users and iterate based on feedback.
