Job summary

Peraton is seeking a Hull's Treatment Materials Engineer to work onsite in West Bethesda, MD. You will perform hands-on engineering in support of the US Navy's submarine force and lead teams in shipyard installation and testing.

The role requires a BS in Engineering with a 3.0+ GPA (or MS/MA) and 2+ years of experience, with bonuses for polymer processing knowledge and acoustics coursework; active DoD Secret Clearance is required.

Qualifications

• BS Engineering with GPA 3.0+ and 2+ years experience or MS/MA with 0 years.
• Demonstrated hands-on work interest through academics or jobs.
• Experience with polymer processing is a bonus.
• Experience or coursework in acoustics is a bonus.
• Leadership traits demonstrated in team or group roles is a plus.
• Requires active DoD Secret Clearance.

Responsibilities

• Perform hands-on engineering in support of the US Navy's submarine force.
• Design and manufacture prototype articles and molds
• Work with engineers, technicians, and shipyard personnel to produce, install, and test advanced polymer items
• Use a range of hand tools to fabricate, install, and evaluate test articles
• Interface with government, contractor, and shipyard personnel on technical and schedule requirements
• Lead teams of engineers and technicians in shipyard installation and testing
• Travel to public shipyards and other locations possible for two week periods
