Job summary

Advance Auto Parts is seeking a Hub Operations Lead to manage day-to-day hub functions, including order fulfillment, inventory control, and coordination with store networks, PDQ and external suppliers for order fulfillment.

The role requires leadership of HUB team members, forklift and stocking duties, and strict adherence to company standards while maintaining safety and accuracy. This full-time position is based in the Reading area.

Qualifications

  • Experience in retail inventory and merchandising is required.
  • Ability to lead and train HUB team members and manage inbound/outbound tasks.
  • Knowledge of store inventory systems and order fulfillment processes.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee hub operations and resolve hub orders and processes on time.
  • Direct HUB team members and delegate tasks (drivers and inventory specialists).
  • Review orders, pull parts, stage product and finalize paperwork.
  • Coordinate with internal and third-party drivers for logistics.
  • Maintain inventory accuracy, perform cycle counts and updates.
  • Ensure compliance with paperwork policies and procedures.
  • Communicate risks or delays to store leadership promptly.
  • Lead stocking activities and ensure completion within 24 hours.

Job Description

The Hub Operations Lead is responsible for the day-to-day operations and workflow of all HUB functions, including execution of store Hub order fulfillment, inventory control, and all associated processes. Depending on the size and scope, some leads will oversee one or more team members such as HUB Inventory Specialists and HUB drivers. The individual should have good knowledge of store systems, basic parts knowledge, interpersonal skills and prior experience leading team members. The role requires in-depth knowledge of store inventory and the ability to network with nearby stores, hubs, PDQ and external suppliers for order fulfillment. The lead owns responsibility for maintaining hub company standards. This position is full-time. The role may require MVR certification and requires completion of all training materials and attendance at store meetings.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Responsible for hub operations and timely resolution of hub orders and processes.
  • Provide direction, organize and delegate work to lead HUB related team members (Hub / Loop drivers and Hub Inventory Specialists).
  • Review hub orders, pull parts, stage product, finalize paperwork.
  • Interact with internal and 3rd party drivers on paperwork and instructions.
  • Engage store to facility network to determine part sourcing and logistics solutions, working with ordering store for fulfillment options if unavailable in network.
  • Work with GM, DM and CSC support for proper inventory mix and levels.
  • Maintain inventory accuracy, shrink results, cycle counts, outages, planograms, maxi changes, price changes, front & face, truck lead.
  • Manage all hub records and comply with all paperwork policies and procedures.
  • Urgently communicate any risks or concerns regarding order fulfillment or shipments to the appropriate store leader(s).
  • Lead stocking activities from replenishment orders, including scanning in product and ensuring completion within 24 hours.
Secondary Responsibilities
  • Additional inventory activities including overstocks, callbacks, resets.
  • Safely deliver parts to customers as needed.
  • Assist with front room inventory functions.
  • Assist with cores and defects.
  • Fixed activities: store cleanliness including floors, bathrooms, facing, dusting, parking lot.
  • Assist as needed with MOD and other store related actions.

Essential Job Skills
  • Competent oral and written communication and basic math computations.
  • Prior retail experience, including merchandising and inventory management skills.
  • Ability to drive forklift if certified and applicable, and use a hand truck and pallet jack.
  • Well-mannered, neat appearance, ability to deal with the public in an unbiased manner.
  • Stable work history with proof of performance results.
  • Flexible schedule, able to work short notice including nights and weekends.
  • Immediate reporting of any violation of company policy or procedure to GM and/or DM.
Prior Experience

Inventory management in a retail environment or logistics center of operations.

Education

High school diploma or GED.

Physical Demands

The employee will predominantly be walking or standing, handle or feel with hands and fingers, reach with arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

The employee usually works inside but occasionally outside with exposure to weather while performing tasks such as installing batteries and wiper blades. The employee may be exposed to moving mechanical parts, high precarious places, toxic chemicals, electrical shock, explosives, and vibration. Noise level is usually moderate.
