Job summary

Thea Energy in New Jersey is seeking a detail-oriented HTS Magnet Multiphysics Modelling Engineer to join its fast-growing magnet engineering team. You will support the design, analysis, and testing of HTS magnets for planar coil stellarators, working with senior engineers to develop and run simulation tools.

Qualifications

  • 1–3 years of engineering, physics, or data-analysis experience; internships with magnets or electromagnetics are a plus.
  • Proficiency with Python for data analysis and scripting.
  • Familiarity with Multiphysics tools (Ansys, COMSOL) or willingness to learn quickly.
  • Working knowledge of CAD software is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Develop industry state-of-the-art analytical models of HTS Magnet Systems.
  • Run and maintain Multiphysics simulations (e.g., Ansys EM, Structural, COMSOL) under the direction of senior engineers.
  • Collect, process, and analyze data from magnet design studies and test campaigns.
  • Build and maintain data analysis tools, scripts, and dashboards using Python or similar languages.
  • Support documentation of magnet specifications, test procedures, and results.
  • Track program metrics and help prepare progress reports against milestones.
  • Assist with organizing and maintaining design and test records, drawings, and vendor documentation.
  • Identify data quality issues, trends, and anomalies and flag them to the engineering team.
