Job summary

Tandem PV, Inc. in Fremont, CA seeks an HTL Materials Synthetic Chemist to drive the development and integration of HTL materials into PV devices.

You will lead synthesis, purification, and analytical characterization while coordinating with R&D, manufacturing, and external partners to enable pilot production and eventual scale-up. The role emphasizes multi-step organic synthesis, materials qualification, and quality improvements, with opportunities to shape technology roadmaps and IP strategy

Qualifications

• PhD in Chemistry, Materials Science, or closely related field, or MS with strong experience.
• At least 2 years of practical, interdisciplinary experience in HTL synthesis and materials characterization.
• Excellent scientific communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• End-to-end synthesis and characterization of HTL materials from milligram to multigram scale.
• Create, perform and document materials qualification SOPs.
• Track quality metrics and drive corrective and preventive actions.
• Engage with suppliers and external partners for scale-up.
• Negotiate technical statements of work and acceptance criteria.
• Collaborate with R&D, process engineering, reliability, and operations.
• Analyze data to drive root-cause investigations and improvements.
• Establish control strategies and monitoring plans.
• Embed quality principles into technology roadmaps.
