Job summary

JLL Rosemead, CA is seeking an HSSE Director to lead health, safety, security and environmental efforts for the account. You will serve as the primary HSSE contact, travel to site locations, and provide strategic leadership to ensure compliance and a strong safety culture.

The role requires 8+ years in HSSE, a Bachelor's in a related field, and certification expectations; you'll build training, report KPIs, investigate incidents, and collaborate with life sciences teams.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in safety management, industrial hygiene, environmental science, or a related field.
  • 8+ years of HSSE experience in facilities management or a related field.
  • Knowledge of applicable standards, legislation, codes of practice and operating procedures.
  • Strong presentation and communication with excellent verbal and written ability.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to establish credibility with colleagues and clients.
  • Ability to identify root causes and develop effective corrective actions.
  • OSHA certifications such as CHM, CSHM, CIH, CSP, CEP are preferred.
  • GMP/GxP experience is highly desired.
  • Professional certifications or a master's degree are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Become the primary point of contact for HSSE requirements and activities for the account.
  • Communicate HSSE needs and results to the Account Leadership Team.
  • Play a lead role in the continued development and refinement of JLL’s HSSE culture and training programs on the account.
  • Lead a team of HSSE professionals and provide technical expertise, strategic leadership, and support on HSSE regulatory compliance issues.
  • Ensure development and maintenance of the account training matrix.
  • Collaborate with the JLL HSSE Life Sciences team to share best practices across accounts.
  • Manage trend analysis to adjust management systems as necessary.
  • Provide JLL Team and Client Team with key performance and risk indicators.
  • Ensure that HSSE accidents, injuries, near misses/good catches are properly managed and reviewed for trends.
  • Participate with operating sites as needed to lead or support investigations of serious safety events, the analysis of root cause(s), support/track the implementation of effective corrective actions, and prepare communications to share the lessons‑learned from such events across the account operations.
  • Support environmental compliance efforts as specified in the JLL/client Master Service Agreement (MSA)/Statement of Work (SOW).
  • Maintain account HSSE procedures, documentation and records.
  • Support ISO 45001 & 14001 management system certification activities.
  • Key contact for client support related to HSSE communications and activities.

What this job involves

The HSSE Director position will be a key member of the Account Team. Periodic travel to various operations sites to review site activities, to investigate events or problems, as well as travel to various meetings may be required.

What is your day to day?

Desired experience and technical skills
  • Required Bachelors’ degree in safety management, industrial hygiene, environmental science, or relevant field.
  • 8+ years of HSSE experience Practical working knowledge of Health and Safety tools and techniques, ideally within a Facilities Management environment.
  • Knowledge and understanding of relevant standards, legislation, codes of practice, guidance and operating procedures.
  • Good Presentation and Communication Strong organizational skills, information management proficiency and collaborative management style are needed.
  • Evidence of strong interpersonal skills in order to establish credibility with colleagues and clients.
  • Ability to work through and identify the root cause of any problem.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Preferred General Industry OSHA certifications desired (CHM, CSHM, CIH, CSP, CEP, etc.) GMP/GxP experience highly desired.
  • Relevant professional certification(s) or masters’ degree a plus.

Estimated compensation for this position

156,000.00 – 180,000.00 USD per year This range is an estimate and actual compensation may differ. Final compensation packages are determined by various considerations including but not limited to candidate qualifications, location, market conditions, and internal considerations.
