Job summary

Brookhaven National Laboratory seeks a Hadron Storage Ring (HSR) System Manager to lead the HSR WBS within the Electron-Ion Collider project. You will manage multidisciplinary teams responsible for engineering, design, procurement, fabrication, installation, and commissioning to meet cost and schedule baselines.

The role requires broad engineering knowledge, strong communication, and the ability to coordinate with scientists, engineers, and project management staff across the EIC collaboration.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, physics, or related technical discipline.
• 10+ years of experience in managing or executing complex technical systems in large scientific, engineering, or federal environments.
• At least 6 years of staff management/leadership experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide project leadership for the Hadron Storage Ring (HSR) WBS scope within cost and schedule baselines.
• Direct matrixed technical resources for engineering, design, procurement, fabrication, installation, and commissioning activities.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary teams to ensure integration of HSR subsystems (magnets, vacuum, beam instrumentation, power, RF, cryogenics, controls).
• Develop and maintain the HSR technical baseline including scope, architecture, cost estimates, and schedule.
• Ensure interfaces across HSR and adjacent accelerator systems; utilize EVMS and project reporting tools to manage cost and schedule.
• Deliver status reports and presentations on HSR progress, risks, and performance at reviews and DOE project meetings.
• Support technical reviews, design reviews, and DOE reporting related to the HSR system.
• Ensure work complies with Brookhaven safety, quality, and project management requirements.
