Job summary

Brookhaven National Laboratory seeks a Hadron Storage Ring (HSR) System Manager to deliver a major accelerator subsystem within the EIC project. You will lead matrixed technical resources across engineering, procurement, fabrication, installation, and commissioning for the HSR system.

The role requires broad engineering knowledge, strong leadership, and effective communication with scientists, engineers, technicians, and project managers to meet cost, schedule, and technical performance targets.

Qualifications

• Must have a bachelor’s degree in engineering, physics, or a related technical discipline.
• 10+ years of experience managing complex technical systems in large scientific or federal projects.
• Minimum 6 years of staff management/leadership experience.
• Ability to manage work in a matrixed organization with multidisciplinary teams.
• Excellent written, verbal, and presentation communication skills.
• Familiarity with EVMS or federal project management practices is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manage and direct matrixed technical resources for engineering, design, procurement, fabrication, installation, and commissioning activities of the HSR system.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary engineering groups to ensure effective integration of HSR subsystems.
• Develop and maintain the HSR system technical baseline including scope, architecture, cost estimates, and schedule.
• Ensure technical performance requirements and interfaces are maintained across the HSR system and adjacent accelerator systems.
• Utilize EVMS, project scheduling, and reporting tools to manage cost and schedule performance.
• Identify and mitigate technical, cost, and schedule risks affecting the HSR scope.
• Deliver status reports and presentations on HSR progress, risks, and performance at reviews.
• Communicate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences across teams.
• Lead and collaborate within multidisciplinary teams including scientific, engineering, and admin staff.
• Support technical reviews, design reviews, and DOE project reporting for the HSR system.
• Ensure work follows Brookhaven Lab safety, quality, and project management requirements.
