Job summary

Brookhaven National Laboratory in Upton, NY, seeks a Deputy Technical Director to provide technical leadership for the Electron-Ion Collider (EIC) project, overseeing system engineering, requirements management, interface control, and configuration management across all EIC subsystems.

The role requires coordinating activity with Brookhaven, JLab, partner labs, and international collaborators, ensuring readiness, design convergence, and DOE review readiness. On-site travel is expected.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in engineering, physics, or related technical discipline.
• 12+ years of related experience with at least 8 years in technical leadership of multidisciplinary engineering or scientific organizations.
• Experience leading technical execution of large, complex projects is required.
• Knowledge of particle accelerators, colliders, and related technologies.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Technical Director in setting and maintaining the technical vision, strategy, and direction for the EIC project.
• Lead design, integration, construction, installation, commissioning, and readiness of the EIC Project.
• Direct and oversee the EIC Systems Engineering organization and staff.
• Oversee technical reviews to ensure DOE requirements and project standards are met.
• Coordinate technical activities across laboratories and international collaborators to ensure successful execution of the EIC scope.
• Represent the Technical Director in project reviews and external engagements when delegated.
