Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) Technician
You will carry out HSE management activities to eliminate or reduce occupational health, production safety, environmental, and fire risks within company premises and to ensure the normal operation of the company in accordance with national occupational health, safety, environmental, and fire-related laws and regulations, as well as company HSE requirements. This is a boots-on-the-ground role that requires proactive and positive engagement with team members to promote safe behaviors and conditions in the workplace. As an HSE Technician at Hitachi Energy, you will contribute by:
- Monitoring associates and supervisors to ensure all HSE procedures are being performed adequately and in accordance with Hitachi Energy policies.
- Acting as a coach and advisor to the supervision team concerning HSE management.
- Representing the HSE function at Tier 2 meetings.
- Ensuring the organization’s compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal HSE regulations within your scope of responsibility.
- Performing process layered audits to help ensure all HSE barriers are in place.
- Supporting operations in developing a good RPS with team members after a minor incident occurs.
- Helping maintain and execute the HSE management systems, carrying out inspections and audits, analyzing results, and managing corrective actions.
- Collecting samples for environmental compliance (wastewater, stormwater, air).
- Ensuring the effectiveness of corrective actions to prevent reoccurrence.
- Auditing PPE in use on the floor and assigning new PPE to employees.
- Managing incident reporting, investigation, and analysis programs for your area of responsibility.
- Performing SOT's and assisting with ABRA development.
- Analyzing and monitoring trends regarding incidents, inspections, audits, and corrective measures.
- Contributing to the development and implementation of various HSSE programs and procedures (ergonomics, lockout, inspections, scheduled audits, etc.).
- Organizing activities to promote employee and supervisor awareness, participation, and safe behaviors.
- Assisting in HSE strategic planning to help achieve KPIs, targets, and objectives.
- Supporting organizational upskilling regarding risk assessments and mitigation techniques.

- High school diploma or equivalent
- Two to five years of manufacturing experience, preferably with relevant HSE applications
- Strong leadership, interpersonal, and influencing skills
- Problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Team player and approachable
- Experience with OSHA regulatory requirements
- Experience with behavior-based safety programs and culture change initiatives
- Experience and/or familiarity with ISO 45001 & ISO 14001
- Ability to operate within and support matrixed leadership and functional teams
