Job summary

ABB Inc. in Selmer, TN is seeking a safety-focused professional to support production process definition, ensure cost/quality delivery, and share cycle time data with internal teams. The role reports to the HSE Manager and is onsite in Selmer.

You will participate in safety documentation, emergency response readiness, and safety training for staff and contractors. The position emphasizes shift safety oversight, equipment readiness, and effective communication with leadership.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma required.
  • Experience in medical field or HSE background preferred (EMT-level skill; able to provide confident first aid and support emergency response).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Safety documentation management: completes required paperwork (inspections, permits, incidents, compliance records) with audit-ready detail.
  • Emergency response readiness: acts as primary on-shift responder for medical events, chemical releases, fire alarms, and other emergencies; coordinates with Security, Supervisors, and external responders.
  • First aid & medical support: provides immediate first aid and maintains readiness of first-aid supplies, AEDs, and emergency equipment.
  • Shift safety oversight: monitors 2nd-shift operations for unsafe conditions or deviations and supports supervisors in enforcing corrective actions.
  • Training & onboarding support: assists with safety training for new hires, contractors, and cross-shift personnel; reinforces PPE use and emergency procedures.
  • Facility wide support: verifies safety controls continually working, LOTO steps utilized, and hazard mitigation during ongoing operations.
  • Communication & reporting: communicates key safety issues to leadership; escalates urgent matters and provides clear shift-end updates.

This position reports to:

HSE Manager

Your role and responsibilities

In this role, you will have the opportunity to support production process definition to ensure optimization of cost, quality, and on-time delivery of product. Each day, you will participate in the sequence definition, cycle time calculation, and analysis of the working phases of new production processes/products. You will also showcase your expertise by sharing cycle time data with internal teams.

This role is contributing to the Electrification Distribution Solutions in Selmer, TN.

You will be mainly accountable for:

  • Safety documentation management - Completes all required paperwork (inspections, permits, incidents, compliance records) with accurate, auditready detail.
  • Emergency response readiness - Acts as the primary onshift responder for medical events, chemical releases, fire alarms, and other emergencies; coordinates with Security, Supervisors, and external responders.

Qualifications for the role
