Job summary

SeAH Steel USA is seeking an HSE Technician to support Health, Safety, and Environmental programs across our Houston manufacturing site. The role strengthens regulatory compliance, conducts training, maintains records, and assists with audits and incident investigations.

You will coordinate OSHA compliance activities, manage logs and SDS data, promote safety initiatives, and work with management to implement risk controls.

Qualifications

  • 1 year of experience in the HSE field and industry.
  • OSHA 30-HR General Industry certification.
  • OSHA 1910 Trainer for General Industry certification.
  • ISO 14001 auditor knowledge or experience.
  • Strong organizational and research skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong presentation and facilitation skills.
  • Ability to multitask effectively.
  • Bilingual: English and Spanish (preferred; not required).
  • Driver’s License to operate company vehicles when needed.

Responsibilities

  • Implement health, safety, and environmental policies, procedures, and guidelines as instructed.
  • Conduct New Hire Safety Orientation and ongoing safety training.
  • Participate in detailed incident investigations and promote incident prevention.
  • Conduct building and safety walk-throughs and OSHA compliance.
  • Maintain OSHA logs, accident reports, and the SDS database.
  • Facilitate safety meetings and provide relevant materials.
  • Assist in compliance reviews, risk assessments, and other safety assessments.
  • Prepare HSE reports and documentation as assigned.
  • Provide HSE guidance to facility management and promote initiatives.
  • Collaborate with management to foster employee-driven HSE initiatives.
  • Maintain relations with managers, employees, customers, and regulators.
  • Conduct weekly waste storage inspections and coordinate waste pickup.
  • Perform Storm Water Discharge sampling and assist environmental compliance.
  • Provide first aid and assist with emergency response and return-to-work programs.
  • Communicate HSE information clearly to employees.
  • Ensure PPE availability and proper use.
  • Attend HSE training and demonstrate proficiency in MS Office.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job description

The HSE Technician fulfills a crucial role within the company by facilitating compliance with Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) requirements, including Industrial Hygiene/Occupational Health (IHOH), Health and Safety (HS), HSE Management System coordination (HSEMS), Regulatory issues, and Audit Coordination (AC). This position is responsible for developing regulatory guidance, providing training, tracking, and communicating regulatory changes to ensure workplace safety and compliance. The successful candidate will also support the work of peers across regulatory and business unit HSE functions, contribute to team projects, and actively participate in cross-functional HSE initiatives.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Implement health, safety, and environmental policies, procedures, and guidelines as instructed.
  • Conduct a New Hire Safety Orientation and provide ongoing safety training for employees.
  • Participate in detailed incident investigations, promoting incident prevention for the benefit of employees and visitors.
  • Conduct building and safety walk-throughs, identifying hazards, recommending corrective actions, and facilitating OSHA compliance.
  • Maintain OSHA logs, accident reports, and the SDS database.
  • Facilitate safety meetings and provide relevant materials, including content on Health and Safety topics.
  • Assist in compliance reviews, general risk assessments, and other safety assessments to support HSE management.
  • Prepare applicable HSE reports, and other documentation as assigned.
  • Provide HSE guidance and make recommendations to facility management.
  • Collaborate with management to promote employee-driven HSE initiatives.
  • Maintain positive relations with managers, employees, customers, and regulatory agencies.
  • Conduct weekly inspections of waste storage areas and coordinate waste pickup and disposal.
  • Perform Storm Water Discharge sampling, document events, and assist in environmental compliance activities.
  • Provide first aid treatment as needed and assist with emergency response to spills and medical emergencies.
  • Transport injured employees to medical facilities for treatment and oversee their return-to-work programs.
  • Maintain strong communication with employees, effectively conveying HSE information and updates.
  • Identify and ensure appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is available and used in various processes.
  • Attend and participate in HSE training as required.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office applications to document and communicate HSE-related information.
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications / Competencies
Education
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
Driver’s License
  • Must be able to operate company vehicles to respond to incidents, conduct inspections and transport injured employees when necessary.
Years of Experience
  • 1 year of experience in the HSE field and industry.
Job Knowledge

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions
  • Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment.
  • Loose-fitting clothes and jewelry are not permitted on site.
  • The ability to respond quickly to sounds.
  • The ability to move safely over uneven terrain or in confined spaces.
  • The ability to see and respond to dangerous situations.
  • The ability to work in loud, hot environments/extreme weather while wearing required PPE.
  • Ability to see at least 20-20 when corrected.
  • Ability to identify and distinguish colors.
