Job summary

Cummins Inc. seeks a Health, Safety and Environment Leader-Moderate Complexity for its Plainfield, IN site. You will steer HSE strategy, drive risk management, and ensure compliance with ISO standards while building a high-performing, safety-focused team.

You will lead investigations, foster a proactive safety culture, and coordinate with cross-functional partners to reduce risk and improve operational performance. This is an on-site, Exempt role.

Qualifications

• College/University degree in Occupational Health, Safety or Environmental
• Professional certification in HSE-related field preferred
• 5–7 years of experience, 1–2 years management experience
• Experience managing health, safety and environmental ISO standards

Responsibilities

• Lead HSE strategy and risk management as a Plant Leadership Team member
• Maintain HSEMS effectiveness, ISO certifications, audits, and regulatory compliance
• Champion proactive safety culture through incident reporting and root-cause analysis
• Deliver continuous improvement in machine safety, ergonomics, and environmental sustainability
• Oversee emergency preparedness, drills, and regulatory interactions
• Collaborate with Engineering, Operations, Maintenance, and Quality to embed HSE in processes
• Own the HSE master project list and risk reduction portfolio
• Drive data-driven improvements to safety performance and risk reduction
