As a Site Health, Safety and Environment Manager, you will provide leadership and support for R&D programs, laboratory operations, and prototype testing within Baker Hughes’ CCUS ventures. You will ensure compliance with HSE procedures and regulatory requirements, managing associated risks effectively.

Responsibilities include:
  1. Maintaining knowledge of applicable HSE regulations and ensuring compliance through permits and documentation.
  2. Developing and managing site-specific HSE programs for ongoing R&D operations.
  3. Creating and owning HSE risk management strategies, including site risk registers.
  4. Managing site-specific HSE initiatives to mitigate risks and ensure regulatory compliance.
  5. Ensuring safe handling, storage, and disposal of chemicals, maintaining inventory and safety data sheets.
  6. Supporting risk assessments and management of change processes.
  7. Collaborating with third-party providers for environmental and safety compliance programs.
  8. Developing emergency response plans and conducting safety drills.
  9. Promoting a safety culture through leadership in HSE meetings and incident investigations.
  10. Monitoring HSE performance metrics and analyzing trends for improvement.
  11. Serving as the primary contact for HSE matters and liaising with regulatory agencies.
Qualifications for success:
  • Degree in Occupational Health, Safety & Environmental Science, or related field.
  • 8-10 years of experience in HSE leadership roles, preferably in chemical, pharmaceutical, or R&D environments.
  • Experience with chemicals and hazardous materials handling.
  • Deep knowledge of US Federal and California State OSHA regulations.
  • Proven ability to develop and implement compliant HSE programs.
  • Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Professional certifications like CSP or CIH are preferred.
