Job summary

LifeWorks of Austin is seeking an HSE Instructor to develop curriculum, lesson plans, and activities for students aged 16–26 toward GED completion. The role supports online and in-person classes, including intakes and progress assessments, with individualized service plans to foster career and higher education goals.

Qualifications

• Bilingual in English and Spanish is required.
• Master’s degree in education is highly preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree in Education, Social Work, or related field; and
• Minimum of 2 years of teaching experience with transition age youth; or
• Equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience with databases; proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Preferred experience with group facilitation and management methods and techniques.
• Preferred experience presenting educational information to young adults from diverse backgrounds.

Responsibilities

• Teaches reading, writing, math, social studies, and science in person or online daily.
• Uses classroom, group, and computer-based methods to promote learning.
• Develops, revises, and evaluates curriculum for varied learning levels.
• Creates engaging learning environments and maintains orderly classrooms.
• Conducts intake meetings and develops individualized transition plans for GED goals.
• Maintains data entry and coordinates with tutors and interns.
• Supervises students in LifeWorks facilities and during virtual classes.
• Participates in supervision meetings and continuing professional development.
