Job summary

LifeWorks Austin is seeking a dedicated HSE Instructor to develop and implement curriculum for students pursuing High School Equivalency, both online and in-person. You will conduct intake, progress assessments, and individualized service plans to guide GED preparation and post-GED goals.

The role emphasizes de-escalation, inclusive classrooms, and coordinated wrap-around services. The position is full-time, non-exempt, with 24 PTO days, 11 holidays, a premium-free medical plan with HSA

Qualifications

• Fluent bilingual in English and Spanish.
• Master’s degree in education highly preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree in Education, Social Work, or a related field; and
• Equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

• Teaches reading, writing, math, social studies, and science in person or virtually.
• Uses varied methods: classroom instruction, group discussions, one-on-one guidance, and computer-based instruction.
• Apply de-escalation techniques to reduce tension and promote safety.
• Develops, revises, and evaluates curriculum for diverse learning levels.
• Create engaging learning environments with displays and prepared spaces.
• Meet with new students to review intake forms and transition goals for GED.
• Create individualized transition plans and update them as needed.
• Establish and maintain standards of student behavior for an inclusive classroom.
• Plan and conduct orientation sessions with internal and external service providers.
• Administer and evaluate baseline and progress assessments.
• Coordinate instructional time with volunteer tutors and interns.
• Meet with clients monthly to monitor service plans and progress.
• Process referrals and enrollment documentation for new students.
• Maintain accurate data entry as required.
