Job summary

Hanwha Philly Shipyard is seeking a Safety & Health Coordinator to oversee safety programs and ensure OSHA compliance across heavy industrial operations. The role includes inspections, training, incident investigations, and coordination of PPE and medical surveillance.

The candidate should have 3–5 years in a safety role within construction or related industries and may serve as SYC as needed. ERT duties and emergency response readiness are part of the job.

Qualifications

• 2- or 4-year college degree in Safety or Environmental field strongly desired; practical field experience may suffice
• Minimum 3–5 years of experience in a dedicated safety position in construction or related industry
• Emergency responder experience is a plus, but not required

Responsibilities

• Ensure safety procedures, rules and regulations are followed at all times
• Perform inspections of work sites to monitor compliance and identify hazards
• Prepare and conduct safety trainings for employees and supervisors
• Organize meetings to address safety issues and distribute weekly topics/briefs
• Investigate work-related incidents and prepare concise reports with findings and recommendations
• Assist in administration of PPE, medical surveillance, workers’ compensation, and related programs
• Serve as Shipyard Competent Person (SYC) when needed and issue hot work permits
• Participate in the Shipyard Emergency Response Team (ERT) and respond to emergencies
• Communicate risk factors effectively and maintain a safe work environment
