Job summary

Dexterra Group seeks an experienced HSE and Security Manager to champion HSE systems, ensure policy compliance, and strengthen security operations at workforce accommodation sites. You will plan and execute HSE initiatives, train leaders, and maintain alignment with client expectations while supporting ISO certification and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

  • Oversee and improve company HSE programs and safety policies.
  • Lead site security operations and emergency response planning.
  • Provide training and leadership to meet safety goals.
  • Support ISO audits and regulatory compliance.
  • Collaborate with regulators, clients, and internal teams.
  • Travel to workforce accommodation sites as required.
  • 5+ years in health, safety, or environment with people leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Lead safety practices, policies, and plans for the company.
  • Direct HSE programs aligning with Dexterra Group HSE direction.
  • Provide training and leadership to prevent injuries and ensure safe workplaces.
  • Support senior leadership with strategy deployment using business perspective.
  • Assist with HSE documentation for business development.
  • Monitor HSE performance to meet targets and improvements.
  • Implement new HSE initiatives in consultation with Director and Senior Manager HSE.
  • Ensure teams are aware of HSEQ communications.
  • Guide incident investigations with root-cause analysis.
  • Conduct risk assessments and recommend controls.
  • Support ISO certification audits.
  • Maintain knowledge of local, state, and federal HSE codes.
  • Engage with regulatory agencies and implement corrective actions.
  • Keep employees updated on HSE topics.
  • Collaborate with HSEQ team to improve management system.
  • Have authority to stop unsafe procedures.
  • Ensure facilities comply with safety and fire regulations.
  • Engage with contractors and evaluate performance.
  • Support operations with electronic systems.
  • Manage security programs at Maverick Workforce Accommodation site.
  • Oversee site access control, visitor management, security measures.
  • Supervise security personnel and contractors.
  • Conduct security risk assessments and mitigations.
  • Investigate security incidents and corrective actions.
  • Coordinate with operations, client reps, emergency services, regulators.
  • Ensure emergency response and business continuity include security requirements.
  • Monitor security trends and drive improvements.
  • Support workforce accommodation operations for a safe environment.
  • Conduct audits/inspections of systems and contractor performance.
  • Other duties as required.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and otherwise support the safety practices, policies, procedures, and plans of the company.
  • Responsible for the overall management and leadership of HSE programs, in support of the Dexterra Group HSE direction.
  • Provide necessary training, leadership, support, and control to meet the company’s goals of preventing work-related physical and psychosocial injuries and illnesses, provide safe and healthy workplaces, protecting the natural environment.
  • Provide required support to senior leadership, management, supervisors and other leaders for the strategy and program deployment and do so by employing a strong business perspective.
  • Support business development with required HSE documentation.
  • Support HSE performance to achieve targeted business output and improvement levels.
  • Support and/or otherwise implement new HSE initiatives, opportunities, and promotions in consultation with the Director and Senior Manager HSE
  • Ensure operational teams are aware of HSEQ communications and publications.
  • Provide direction to management and supervisors in the investigation and incident management process, including workers compensation claims, with the focus on Root Cause and prevention measures.
  • Conducting assessments and provide recommendations, using technical, human factors and other theoretical knowledge, to research, review and interpret information on hazards to identify causation, consequences, possible risk controls, including critical controls.
  • Support annual audits for maintenance of ISO certification.
  • Maintain current knowledge of local, state, and federal HSE codes, regulations, laws, and other relevant standards.
  • Engage with regulatory agencies and supporting operations with corrective actions from regulatory visits.
  • Update employees and management on current HSE industry topics/trends.
  • Work together with the other members of the HSEQ team to support and improve the HSE management system.
  • Accept authority to take any necessary action to maintain overall safe practices and procedures, including the authority to cease an unsafe operating procedure and to instill the same expectation within others.
  • Support management to ensure all equipment and buildings owned or operated by the company comply with safety and fire regulations and any other state or Federal regulations.
  • Engaging with contractors and supporting contractor evaluations
  • Supporting operations with applicable electronic systems.
  • Manage all security programs and activities within the Maverick Workforce Accommodation site, ensuring compliance with company, client, and regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee site access control systems, visitor management processes, and physical security measures.
  • Supervise and support security personnel and contractors, ensuring effective performance, training, and compliance with site standards.
  • Conduct security risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies to protect people, property, and operations.
  • Investigate security incidents, breaches, thefts, and other related events and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
  • Collaborate with site operations, client representatives, emergency services, and regulatory agencies on security-related matters.
  • Ensure emergency response, evacuation, and business continuity plans incorporate security requirements and are regularly tested.
  • Monitor security trends and emerging risks and implement continuous improvement initiatives to strengthen site security.
  • Support workforce accommodation operations by ensuring a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for residents, employees, contractors, and visitors.
  • Conduct regular audits and inspections of security systems, procedures, and contractor performance.
  • Other duties as required.
Qualifications
WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
  • Undergraduate Degree in Health & Safety, Science, Public Health or equivalent.
  • CSP or international equivalent
  • Auditing certifications are an asset e.g. ISO or Environmental Auditing
  • Valid First Aid, working at heights certifications are an asset
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and be flexible to travel.
  • Desirable trait background in Military and/or Law enforcement
  • 5+ years’ experience in health, safety, or environment.
  • 5+ years managing people
  • Completion of OHSA 30 training is an asset
