Job summary

Genuine Parts Company (GPC) is seeking a Service Technician II to repair, service, and build standard and custom hydraulic, fluid power, electrical, and mechanical systems in our Jacksonville service shop.

The role may guide less-experienced technicians and requires reading hydraulic schematics, strong communication, and safe operation of shop equipment. Applicants should have a HS diploma or GED and 3–5 years of shop experience.

Qualifications

• Ability to read hydraulic schematics.
• Strong communication skills.
• Basic mechanical knowledge.
• Ability to operate shop equipment safely.
• Ability to work independently or in a team environment with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Performs maintenance on assigned customer products that come through the service shop.
• Disassembles, cleans, and inspects system components for repair.
• Diagnoses system components and recommends a solution to the customer.
• Prepares job form listing parts and works necessary to perform the repair.
• Designs, fabricates, machines, and welds parts and components.
• Repairs hydraulic, fluid power, electrical, and mechanical systems. and other related items.
• Assembles new and repaired equipment.
• Tests repaired equipment for performance and prepares for shipment or long-term storage.
• Assist customers by answering specific technical questions to help the customer understand the work to be done.
• Responds to customer inquires regarding products, provides quotes, and handles order entry.
• Builds customer relationships to drive repeat business by relating to the customer and drive process improvements.
• Assists less experienced Service Technicians with addressing customer needs.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
