Job summary

Sylvania is seeking an HS Assistant Track & Field Coach to support the athletic program under the Head Coach. You will instruct student-athletes in event techniques, develop conditioning, and manage race execution while ensuring safety and adherence to OHSAA standards.

Responsibilities include leading workouts, assisting with practices and dual meets, and promoting discipline, teamwork, and community respect.

Qualifications

• Background in competitive track & field (HS, collegiate or club).
• CPR/AED Certification.
• First Aid for Coaches.
• Concussion Training (NFHS / OH).
• Lindsay's Law Training.
• Student Mental Health Training.
• Successful FBI/BCI background checks.

Responsibilities

• Event-Specific Instruction: teach techniques across event groups with focus on form and starts.
• Conditioning & Athlete Safety: design/lead daily workouts and injury prevention per guidelines.
• Practice & Meet Operations: assist with daily practices, entries, and meet setup and officiating.
• Character & Sportsmanship: foster discipline, teamwork, and community respect.
• Academic Oversight: monitor academic standing to maintain athletic eligibility.
