Job summary

Sylvania seeks a knowledgeable Junior High Track & Field Coach to join our athletic program. Working under the Head Coach, you will instruct student‑athletes in event techniques, conditioning, and race execution while fostering a safe, disciplined environment per OHSAA standards.

You will assist with daily practices, event group rotations, and meet entries, while emphasising sportsmanship, teamwork, and academic eligibility.

Qualifications

• Background in competitive track & field (high school, collegiate, or club coaching/competing).
• Valid (or ability to obtain) OHSAA Pupil Activity Permit (PAP), including CPR/AED, First Aid for Coaches, Concussion Training (NFHS/Ohio Dept. of Health), Sudden Cardiac Arrest (Lindsay's Law) Training, and Student Mental Health Training.
• Successful completion of FBI/BCI criminal background checks.

Responsibilities

• Event-specific instruction across designated event groups (sprints, hurdles, distance, jumps, throws).
• Assist in designing and leading daily workouts, warm-up/cool-down routines, and injury prevention per OHSAA guidelines.
• Assist with running daily practices, event rotations, timing workouts, meet entries, and coaching during meets.
• Emphasize discipline, work ethic, teamwork, and respect on and off the track.
• Monitor academic standing to support athletic eligibility.
