West Virginia University is seeking an HRIS Data & Reporting Specialist within Talent and Culture to analyze workforce data, deliver actionable insights, and support ERP modernization initiatives. The role collaborates across HR and university leadership to enhance reporting capabilities and ensure data integrity within Workday and other systems.

The position is onsite in Morgantown three days a week, with a strong emphasis on data visualization, dashboards, and ad hoc analyses for leadership

Competenze

• Bachelor's degree in Data Analytics, Information Systems, Business Analytics, Data Science, or a closely related field.
• 3+ years of professional experience in data analysis, reporting, BI, or related analytics function.
• Experience designing and maintaining dashboards/reports using Tableau or similar BI tools.
• 2+ years hands-on experience developing and supporting Workday reporting/analytics (Advanced Reports, Composite Reports, Matrix Reports, Calculated Fields, Dashboards).
• Experience using Workday reporting tools for HR reporting, workforce analytics, and executive decision-making.
• Any equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.

About the Opportunity

The HRIS Data & Reporting Specialist supports the Talent and Culture organization by gathering, analyzing, and interpreting workforce data to inform strategic decision-making and improve organizational effectiveness. This role partners across HR and University leadership to deliver actionable insights, enhance reporting capabilities, and support key initiatives through data analytics and visualization. Reporting to the Director of HR Operations, the HRIS Data & Reporting Specialist plays a critical role in advancing data-informed practices, ensuring data integrity, and supporting WVU's modernization and ERP initiatives.

This position is required to be onsite in Morgantown, WV for 3 days a week.

What You'll Do

Data Analysis & Insights

• Collect, clean, and analyze HR data from Workday and other systems to identify trends and opportunities
• Apply analytical and statistical methods to generate actionable insights supporting workforce planning and decision-making
• Monitor key HR metrics, including turnover, hiring trends, and workforce demographics

Reporting & Visualization

• Design, develop, and maintain dashboards and reports using tools such as Tableau and Excel and within Workday
• Automate recurring reporting processes to improve efficiency and accuracy
• Provide ad hoc reporting and analysis to Talent and Culture leadership and business partners

Data Integrity & Compliance

• Ensure accuracy, consistency, and integrity of HR data through audits and validation
• Support compliance with applicable data privacy and security standards
• Partner with IT to optimize HR systems and reporting capabilities

Collaboration & Communication

• Work closely with HR teams and stakeholders to understand business needs and provide data-driven solutions
• Translate complex data into clear, meaningful insights for non-technical audiences
• Present findings and recommendations to leadership

Process Improvement & Modernization

• Identify opportunities to streamline processes through automation and analytics
• Support ERP and system modernization efforts, including data validation and reporting enhancements
• Contribute to the development of scalable reporting and data structures

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Data Analytics, Information Systems, Business Analytics, Data Science, or a closely related field.
• A minimum of three (3) years of professional experience in data analysis, reporting, business intelligence, or a related analytical function.
• Demonstrated experience designing, developing, and maintaining dashboards, reports, and data visualizations using Tableau or similar business intelligence and analytics tools.
• A minimum of two (2) years must include hands-on experience developing and supporting Workday reporting and analytics solutions, including Advanced Reports, Composite Reports, Matrix Reports, Calculated Fields, and Dashboards.
• Experience should include leveraging Workday reporting tools to support human resources reporting, workforce analytics, operational insights, and executive decision-making.
• Any equivalent combination of related education and experience will be considered.
• Visa Sponsorship is not considered for this position.
