Job description

The HRIS & Payroll Specialist provides transactional HR support with a primary focus on onboarding, personnel action processing, and employee recognition and reimbursement programs, while serving as trained backup for payroll operations. This role ensures all new hire documentation and system onboarding tasks are completed accurately and timely, supporting a smooth start for new employees. The position is responsible for executing personnel changes in the HRIS- including promotions, transfers, and management updates- while maintaining data integrity and communication flow with stakeholders.

Additionally, the Specialist supports employee recognition efforts by tracking service milestones, collaborating with Marketing and leadership on award distribution, and processing employee referral and tuition reimbursement requests. The role maintains working knowledge of payroll processes to provide backup support to the Payroll Manager during absences, peak processing periods, and business continuity events. Acting as a central point for HRIS inquiries, the role assists with password resets, workflow monitoring, and basic system troubleshooting.

Qualifications Required:

• High school diploma or GED required. Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business, Management, or a related field preferred
• At least 3 years of experience in the HR areas of payroll and/or working with HRIS.
• HR certification such as SHRM-CP or PHR or Payroll certification or related payroll credential preferred
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy when entering, maintaining, and reviewing employee or organizational data
• Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
