The University of South Carolina Division of Administration and Finance seeks an experienced professional to join its HR Business Partner unit. As the primary point of contact for assigned departments and their business specialists, this position initiates, manages, and monitors HR activities to ensure operational accuracy and efficiency.
Working with area leadership and hiring managers, the position advises on compensation for hiring and position changes, initiates and approves ongoing additional pay actions, and develops salary recommendations using the Pay Evaluator tool in consultation with the HR Advisor. The position also coordinates routine employee relations matters, including performance coaching and drafting written reprimands, performance improvement plans, and substandard performance letters. It facilitates telecommuting and flexible schedule requests and elevates issues to the Employee Relations Expert Team when appropriate.
As a peer mentor to the unit’s coordinators and specialists, the position builds their knowledge of HR processes and regulations, assists with complex matters, and determines when escalation is needed. Provides coverage during absences or high-volume periods, supports the HR Advisor, and participates in special projects for division leadership.
Job Duty: Advises on compensation-related actions for staff pertaining to ongoing additional pay, hiring, and position actions. Initiates and approves staff ongoing additional pay actions based on documented need from area leadership. In conjunction with hiring managers, reviews candidate qualifications and initiates the Pay Evaluator tool, confers with HRBP and leadership on recommended salary. Partners with area leadership on needed position description modifications.
Job Duty: Coordinates routine Employee Relations (ER) issues in conjunction with area leadership. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: coaching for improved performance, drafting Written Reprimands, drafting performance improvement plans (PIPs), and substandard performance letters. Coordinates and requests telecommuting and flexible schedules, if applicable. Maintains applicable documentation and ensures open communication with and elevates situations to the ER Expert Team, as applicable.
Job Duty: Serves as a peer mentor to HRBP Coordinator(s)/Specialist(s) within the HRBP unit to aid in strengthening knowledge of HR processes, procedures, and applicable regulations/laws. Assists with complex items and evaluates the need for elevation to HRBP Advisor, HRBP , and/or Expert Teams, as applicable. Performs all HRBP Coordinator/Specialist duties as needed during times of absence or high volume.
Job Duty: In conjunction with hiring managers, reviews candidate qualifications and initiates the Pay Evaluator tool, confers with HRBP – HR Advisor and leadership on recommended salary.
Job Duty: Provides support to HRBP – HR Advisor, as needed. Participates in special assignments/projects as requested by the Division of Human Resources ( DHR ) leadership.
