Job summary

Grand Canyon Railway & Hotel is seeking an HR Trainer to deliver engaging programs and manage learning activities using the Learning Management System (L3). You’ll support compliance training and develop employees across multiple properties, contributing to a culture of growth and excellence.

No prior trainer experience is required; organization, tech-savviness, and a passion for helping others learn are key. This is a full-time, year-round role with benefits in a vibrant hospitality setting.

Qualifications

• Experience presenting information to large groups and engaging diverse audiences.
• Strong computer skills with MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel).
• Bi-lingual English/Spanish is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Understand and support Xanterra’s Mission, Culture, and Values.
• Plan annually which training programs will be offered and align with standardized programs across departments.
• Oversee training logistics (scheduling, materials, room setup) and ensure compliance with standards.
• Coordinate alcohol prevention training per policy and state regulations.
• Coordinate food handler and manager training in line with state/county rules.
• Support and implement training to uphold Xanterra Hospitality Standards across properties.
• Attend safety training to monitor compliance and support Risk Management initiatives.
• Assist with rolling out corporate L&D initiatives and data entry into L3 LMS.
• Support departments to meet goals and obligations on time.
• Assist with employee events and department initiatives.

Join the Human Resources team at Grand Canyon Railway & Hotel and play a key role in employee development across multiple properties. In this role, you will deliver engaging training programs, manage learning activities through the Learning Management System (L3), support compliance training across the property, and help employees develop the skills they need to succeed and grow in their roles.

No Trainer Experience? No Problem!

Training experience is a plus but not required. We're looking for someone who is organized, detail-oriented, tech-savvy, and passionate about helping others learn. Strong communication skills, a positive attitude, and a willingness to learn are the keys to success in this role.

Responsibilities

• Fully understand and support Xanterra’s Mission Statement, Cultural Pillars, Community Commitment and Core Values
• Determines annually, which current training programs will be offered as well as adding Xanterra standardized programs across departments by working with the Director and Manager of HR, property GM’s and the corporate Learning and Development Manager.
• Oversees training logistics, including scheduling, ordering materials, and room setup, and facilitates all training programs to ensure compliance with established standards. Coordinates, assigns, and supports alcohol prevention training in compliance with Xanterra policies and state regulations.
• Coordinates, assigns, and supports food handler and food manager training programs in compliance with Xanterra policies and all applicable state and county regulations. Coordinates, facilitates and supports New Hire Orientation working with HR Director, HR Manager, Talent Acquisition Manager and HR Coordinator.
• Supports, coordinates and implements training to ensure Xanterra Hospitality Standards are in place at each assigned property.
• Attends property level safety training programs to monitor and ensure compliance, as well as Support Risk Management initiatives as required.
• Supports the roll out of new corporate L&D initiatives, as well as champion data entry into L3 LMS. Provides support to all departments to ensure that goals and obligations are met on a timely basis.
• Assists with enforcing Company Policies and Procedures.
• Assists with employee related functions and events such as Employee Appreciation Dinner, Service Awards Banquet, Employee Picnic, Health Fairs & Vaccine Clinics and provides recommendations to committee regarding employee events, may represent the HR department as a Committee Member.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Previous experience presenting information large groups and ability to effectively engage with a diverse audience .
• Strong computer skills with proficiency in MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel) with ability to learn various applications and programs is foundational.
• Possess or able to obtain a valid Arizona Driver’s License and comply with Xanterra Park’s & Resorts Company Vehicle Policy.
• Must possess or obtain TIPS (Alcohol Service) Certification within the first three (3) months of employment
• Must possess or obtain ServSafe (Food Safety) Registered Proctor Certification within the first three (3) months of employment, enabling the administration of food safety handler and manager examinations

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience as a trainer and with Learning Management Systems (LMS) preferred.
• Prior HR experience in the hospitality industry a plus.
• Dayforce, Infor Cloud Suite, and Outlook experience a plus.
• Bi-lingual language skills (English/Spanish) a plus.

Physical Requirements

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is constantly listening, hearing, seeing, sitting, twisting, eye/hand coordination, manual dexterity, handling and wrist motion lifting/carrying 10lbs or less.
• Occasionally standing, walking, reaching outward, reaching above shoulder, climbing, squat/kneeling, carrying, bending, stooping, lifting, pushing, and pulling items weighing up to 50lbs.
• Will be required to sit for long periods of time and occasionally walk, climb stairs and walk on uneven surfaces.
