Position Overview

HR Kickstart seeking an experienced HR Technology & Operations Specialist to join our fractional HR team supporting our tech & media startup clients. This contract role (1099) focuses on managing the technical aspects of HR processes while executing day-to-day operational HR functions. The ideal candidate has demonstrated experience with Rippling HRIS and Greenhouse ATS, with the ability to configure workflows, manage employee data, and support the full employee lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

HRIS Management

  • Configure and maintain Rippling HRIS to align with client policies
  • Set up and manage PTO request/approval workflows
  • Create and implement policy leave codes
  • Establish workflows for annual review processes
  • Resolve minor technical issues within the system
  • Maintain accurate personnel files and documentation
  • Build and run regular reports

Employee Lifecycle Management

  • Execute complete onboarding processes for new employees and contractors
  • Prepare offer letters in Greenhouse and send via DocuSign
  • Order and track background checks
  • Procure computers and equipment for new hires
  • Set up system access through Rippling integrations (Slack, email, Google Workspace)
  • Add employees and contractors to appropriate email distribution lists
  • Complete I-9/E-verify processes
  • Manage logistics for employee terminations and off-boarding

Communication & Support

  • Handle communications for background checks and onboarding processes
  • Field and address employee questions and concerns
  • Serve as primary point of contact for system-related HR inquiries
  • Collaborate effectively with the fractional HR team

Required Qualifications

  • 4+ years of experience in HR operations with strong technical focus
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Rippling HRIS configuration and administration
  • Experience with Greenhouse ATS and DocuSign workflows
  • Proven ability to set up and manage integrated technology solutions (Google Workspace, Slack)
  • Experience managing both employee and contractor relationships
  • Strong attention to detail, particularly with compliance documentation
  • Excellent communication skills for employee interactions
  • Experience supporting media organizations preferred
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating with a fractional team
  • Remote work with flexible hours
  • Hourly rate: $75-100 depending on experience and qualifications
  • Expected time commitment: 20 - 80 hours per month
