Job Description: This is a sensitive government position. The GBI follows State Personnel Board Rules for current state employees. The GBI follows the Federal statute regarding drug use and is a drug-free workplace. Although some locations (domestic and foreign) have legalized recreational drug use, applicants who use or have used drugs or controlled substances will be subject to disqualification from employment with the GBI.
Marijuana Usage - Candidates that have used marijuana or cannabis in any form (natural or synthetic) and in any location (domestic or foreign) within (1) year preceding the date of application, will be disqualified.
Other Drugs - Candidates that have used any drugs other than marijuana, within 10 years preceding the date of application, will be disqualified.

Employment for the selected candidate(s) is contingent upon the successful completion of a GBI background investigation including criminal, credit and driver's history checks, polygraph examination, fingerprinting and drug screening.
Under general supervision, enters and processes personnel action requests and payroll transactions. Administers FMLA, Workers' Compensation, Benefits and ADAA for GBI staff. Compiles and files personnel related reports. Maintains files and furnishes information to authorized persons. Conducts New Employee Orientation, processes onboarding and offboarding paperwork. Processes retirement system leave certifications. Responds to inquiries from internal and external customers.
The incumbent will be required to sit for long periods of time and occasionally be required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; stoop and kneel.
This position requires the incumbent to work in an office setting which includes shared office space with other employees.
NOTE: This position will require travel and operating a state vehicle. A valid Georgia driver's license is required.
HR Tech 1 (HRT010): High school diploma or GED AND Six (6) months of experience performing human resources related functions OR High school diploma or GED AND One (1) year of post‑secondary education at an accredited college or university.
HR Tech 2 (HRT011): High school diploma or GED AND One (1) year of experience performing human resources related functions. OR High school diploma or GED AND One (1) year of post‑secondary education at an accredited college or university.
In addition to the minimum qualifications, preference will be given to applicants that possess experience in the following area(s): Knowledge of FMLA Experience using WorkDay Current State of Georgia HR Experience The GBI reserves the right to close this job announcement once a qualified applicant pool has been identified.
