Job description

HR Systems Analyst with skills in Workday HCM implementations, system transitions, and integration is required to support a major HR technology transformation for an established mid-sized US law firm with a highly collaborative, boutique-style culture. Based in New York City, this newly created ansd hybrid role will work closely with the Business Systems Manager and cross-functional teams across Human Resources, Finance, IT, and business operations, initially playing a key role in the firm’s transition from UKG to Workday. You will support data migration, integrations, testing, reporting, dashboards, and process optimization, before taking broader ownership across the firm’s HR, payroll, finance, and enterprise business systems.

This is an excellent opportunity for a systems professional who combines strong Workday HR implementation and integration experience with data analysis, reporting, and technical problem-solving skills. Previous law firm experience is not essential; candidates from professional services or other complex corporate environments with strong HR technology experience are encouraged to apply.

New York City - (Hybrid role based in NYC) - salary: $120,000 – $140,000 (must be eligable to work in the US)

Key skills required for the HRIS Systems Analyst
  • Circa 4–6 years of relevant experience across HR systems, HRIS implementations, business systems, data analytics, or a related technology-focused role.
  • Strong experience supporting Workday implementations, migrations, upgrades, or system transitions, including data migration, validation, testing, and post-implementation optimization.
  • Experience with Workday or UKG or other major HRIS systems implementations is essential, particularly in an implementation, integration, reporting, or systems support environment.
  • Experience working with HRIS integrations and data exchange between enterprise applications.
  • Technical knowledge of APIs, authentication, encryption, certificates including x509/PGP, SFTP, and data exchange frameworks.
  • Strong data and reporting skills, including advanced Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience creating and enhancing reports, dashboards, data pipelines, integrations, and data storage solutions.
  • Knowledge of Power BI, automation, and/or orchestration tools would be highly beneficial.
  • Strong understanding of data integrity, data governance, security, and privacy requirements.
  • Ability to gather business requirements from HR, Finance, IT, and other stakeholders and translate them into practical, scalable systems and reporting solutions.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to balance several initiatives, priorities, and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to work effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • A proactive and analytical mindset, with the ability to identify opportunities to improve processes, systems, workflows, and the use of technology.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.

Previous legal industry experience is not required. Exposure to professional services environments or enterprise business systems would be advantageous. Experience with legal finance platforms such as Aderant, 3E, or similar systems is beneficial but is not an essential requirement.

What you’ll do as a Systems & Data Analyst
  • Play a key role in the firm’s transition from UKG to Workday, supporting implementation, testing, data migration, validation, integration, reporting, and deployment activity.
  • Partner closely with the Business Systems Manager, Human Resources, Finance, IT, application teams, and external consultants throughout the Workday implementation.
  • Gather and analyze requirements from cross-functional teams and translate them into scalable reporting, dashboard, systems, and data solutions.
  • Identify opportunities within Workday to improve data quality, workflows, processes, reporting, and system functionality.
  • Investigate HR system issues and lead enhancement activity to improve performance, consistency, and data integrity.
  • Support the design, development, and maintenance of data pipelines, integrations, data storage solutions, and data processing workflows.
  • Build and maintain reports and dashboards that provide HR, Finance, and leadership teams with accurate and actionable business information.
  • Support integrations between Workday and other internal and third-party platforms.
  • Maintain appropriate data security controls and ensure compliance with privacy, governance, and confidentiality requirements.
  • Support additional enterprise applications, which may include platforms such as Aderant Sierra, DealCloud, and other financial and business systems.
  • Produce and maintain clear process, systems, integration, and technical documentation.
  • Conduct ad hoc data analysis and reporting to support leadership and wider business requirements.
  • Following the Workday implementation, continue to support the optimization and enhancement of the firm’s HR, payroll, finance, and wider business systems.
  • Contribute to future system integrations, automation initiatives, technology projects, and process improvement programs across the firm.
Why this role?

This is a newly created position offering significantly broader exposure than a traditional HRIS support role. You will be joining during a major systems transformation and will have the opportunity to make an immediate impact on the implementation and adoption of Workday, while working closely with the Business Systems Manager and senior stakeholders across the organization.

Beyond the initial Workday project, the role offers exposure across HR, Finance, IT, payroll, data, integrations, reporting, and enterprise business applications. You’ll have the opportunity to develop a well-rounded understanding of the firm’s technology landscape and play an active role in future integrations, automation, reporting initiatives, and process improvements.

For someone who enjoys combining systems, data, integrations, and business problem-solving, this offers both immediate project ownership and strong longer-term scope for development.
