Job summary

Service Corp. International is seeking a Customer Support Specialist to provide HR-related assistance in a busy call center. You will respond professionally to inquiries, navigate Workday, and escalate when needed.

You will support associates and managers across HR modules, document interactions, train via remote tools, and help improve processes while maintaining accuracy and confidentiality.

Qualifications

  • Education: High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience: Two years of call center or customer service experience, preferably in an HR-related function (HR, recruiting, benefits, payroll).
  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Cognitive ability including reasoning, planning, problem-solving, comprehension, learning quickly, learning from experience, and applying learning to new situations.
  • Proficient verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient MS Office Suite skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer support by responding professionally to inquiries, taking effective action, and initiating outbound calls as needed.
  • Use critical thinking to obtain the caller’s desired outcome and apply written procedures, policy manuals, the HR Support knowledge base, and process guidelines to resolve issues.
  • Assist associates and managers with Workday navigation across all HR modules (recruiting, onboarding, benefits enrollment, time off, performance, learning) and related tasks such as opening positions and requisitions, determining benefits eligibility, processing transfers, promotions, and terminations, and handling Leave of Absence eligibility.
  • Document all customer interactions, issues, and resolutions using the call tracking and monitoring system.
  • Assign tasks to additional teams for cases requiring multi-team steps, await resolution, and communicate updates to the customer.
  • Use remote desktop to guide and train associates through Workday tasks (Neurons).
  • Complete designated Workday Inbox transactions for benefits enrollment and requisitions, reaching out to associates or managers as needed.
  • Provide Workday and intranet (InSCIder) navigational support to callers (associates, managers, former associates).
  • Redirect callers to other support teams when appropriate.
  • Recommend methods to update, simplify, and enhance processes, procedures, and technologies related to Workday and manual workflows.
  • Assist with implementation of programs, policies, and services, acting as the first line of contact during roll-outs.
  • Review Frequently Asked Questions and New Policy/Procedure lists to identify necessary steps for associate inquiries.
  • Update the team’s knowledge center documentation as processes change or new nuances arise.

Minimum Requirements

    • Cognitive ability including reasoning, planning, problem‑solving, comprehension, learning quickly, learning from experience, and applying learning to new situations.
    • Professional verbal and written communication skills.
    • Proficient MS Office Suite skills.
    • Advanced time and priority management abilities.
    • Knowledge of Workday is a plus.
Work Conditions
  • Work indoors during all seasons and weather conditions.
  • Comply with corporate dress code policy.
  • Sitting continuously for many hours per day, up to six hours.
  • Climbing stairs frequently to access buildings.
  • Physical effort requiring manual dexterity (paperwork, computer, phone usage).
  • Working beyond standard hours as the need arises.
