Job summary

The Office of the Secretary of the Interior is seeking a Human Resources Specialist for Workers' Compensation to manage complex claims and advise leadership on FECA requirements. This role operates within the Office of Occupational Health and Safety and collaborates with OWCP and supervisors to ensure timely, accurate processing.

Location is negotiable after selection, with telework eligibility and a GS-12 level pay range that varies by locality. Applications close 2026-09-27.

Responsibilities

Evaluate complex and potentially controversial workers' compensation claims by analyzing injury circumstances, medical docs, reports, and records.
Manage complex workers' compensation claims from initial filing through closure, ensuring proper adjudication.
Review medical and factual evidence, analyze investigative reports, and ensure OWCP compliance in documentation.
Advise supervisors on injury reporting, medical documentation, workplace accommodations, and OWCP timeframes.
Design, deliver, and evaluate training for supervisors, employees, and HR professionals on FECA requirements and procedures.
Act as liaison with DOL/OWCP and claimants on complex cases to ensure timely care and benefits.
