Schedule: Monday–Friday | 8:00 AM–5:00 PM.
Pay Rate: $25.00–$29.00 per hour.
Wheeler Staffing Partners is seeking an experienced HR Specialist for an open-ended contract opportunity in Albuquerque, NM. This fully onsite position will support recruitment, onboarding, new-hire orientation, employee records, and general human resources activities within a behavioral health hospital environment.
The HR Specialist will coordinate recruiting activities for clinical and nonclinical positions, manage candidate activity within the Applicant Tracking System (ATS), support pre-employment requirements, and help ensure an organized and positive onboarding experience for new employees.
The ideal candidate has previous human resources and recruiting experience, hands-on experience with an Applicant Tracking System (ATS), and a strong background in onboarding and new-hire coordination. Previous healthcare, hospital, or behavioral health HR experience is highly preferred.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate recruitment activities for clinical and nonclinical positions within a healthcare environment.
- Post job openings and maintain accurate job postings across applicable recruiting platforms.
- Review applications and resumes to identify qualified candidates.
- Assist with candidate screening and initial recruitment activities.
- Manage candidate records, hiring stages, recruiting activity, and status updates within the Applicant Tracking System (ATS).
- Schedule interviews and coordinate availability between candidates and hiring managers.
- Maintain timely and professional communication with candidates throughout the hiring process.
- Partner with hiring managers and hospital leadership regarding recruiting needs, candidate activity, and hiring status.
- Coordinate pre-employment requirements, documentation, and new-hire onboarding activities.
- Track outstanding pre-employment and onboarding requirements and follow up to ensure timely completion.
- Assist with new-hire orientation and provide employees with a positive and organized onboarding experience.
- Maintain accurate and confidential candidate and employee records.
- Ensure recruiting and onboarding documentation is complete, accurate, and properly maintained.
- Respond to general HR questions from employees and provide administrative support as needed.
- Support hospital leadership and employees with day-to-day human resources needs.
- Maintain confidentiality when handling employee, candidate, and organizational information.
- Assist with additional HR projects, recruiting initiatives, and administrative responsibilities as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Previous experience in human resources, recruiting, talent acquisition, or a related HR function.
- Previous recruitment experience required.
- Hands-on experience using an Applicant Tracking System (ATS) to manage candidate records and recruiting activity.
- Experience coordinating new-hire onboarding and orientation.
- Strong understanding of recruiting and onboarding processes.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to communicate professionally with candidates, employees, hiring managers, and organizational leadership.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to appropriately handle confidential and sensitive employee and candidate information.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Ability to work 100% onsite in Albuquerque, NM, Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM–5:00 PM.

- Previous experience working within a hospital or clinical environment.
- Behavioral health recruiting or HR experience.
- Experience recruiting for both clinical and nonclinical positions.
- Experience supporting pre-employment requirements and new-hire documentation.
- Experience partnering directly with hiring managers and organizational leadership.
