Job Summary

This HR Recruitment Intern will focus on supporting the Human Resources team in the hiring process for JCC Chicago’s Apachi Day Camps and Camp Chi’s overnight camp positions. The Recruitment Intern will receive experience with sourcing, screening, and interviewing candidates to fill various camp roles, such as counselors and specialists. They will also learn about the compliance and safety requirements specific to camp staff, including certifications and background checks. The internship offers hands‑on experience in candidate communication and engagement, helping to ensure a positive recruiting process for seasonal camp staff and hiring managers.

Key Essential Job Duties:
  • Support the Recruitment Specialist, Sr. HR Generalist and the Assistant Director of HR Operations with the seasonal hiring for Apachi Day Camp and Camp Chi overnight camp for the summer.
  • Post and manage job postings for the summer Apachi Day Camps and Camp Chi on Indeed, Handshake, and other platforms.
  • Prepare data import excel spreadsheets for camp hire uploads.
  • Support and work with the administrative and operations camp staff to source and screen candidates for seasonal camp positions.
  • Support the Recruitment Specialist with working with the marketing business partner on promotional materials for camp hiring needs on social media, email campaigns and job fairs.
  • Conduct research, gather data, and run reporting in CampMinder, Handshake and Indeed to support decision‑making and strategic tracking of camp hiring efforts.
  • Help maintain documentation and ensure information is accurate and up to date.
  • Contribute to a collaborative, inclusive team culture.
Marginal Duties (as your work schedule allows):
  • Attend job fairs with the Recruitment Specialist to promote our summer camp job openings and other job openings at large
  • Participate in internal meetings and contribute ideas that reflect our mission and values
  • Assist with human resources tasks, projects, and initiatives across the department
  • May assist with compliance paperwork, as needed.

  • Ability to stand; walk and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Ability to operate equipment such as phone, computer keyboard, calculator and standard office equipment.

The position will be located at our Northbrook, IL Bernard Weinger Location.

The duration of the internship will be from November 9, 2026, to early May 7, 2027.

Hybrid work may be available, per meeting performance expectations, upon completion of onboarding and training.

Here is a breakdown of what the hours and shift may look like:

  • Onboarding / Training: November 9, 2026- December 18, 2026; available to work 7-9 hours a week, spread out from Monday - Thursday, between 9AM and 5PM (flexible on exact days/times depending on class schedule, etc.)- Morning Hours Preferred
  • Role Immersion: January 4, 2027 -May 7, 2027; available to work 10 - 12 hours a week, spread out from Monday - Thursday, between 9AM and 5PM (flexible on exact days/times depending on class schedule, etc.)- Morning Hours Preferred
Education & Other Requirements
  • Currently enrolled in a graduate or undergraduate (junior or senior year) degree program in Human Resources, or Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Commitment to a consistent work schedule both semesters, in office and remotely, with quick response to emails/calls/teams.
  • Experience in navigating Microsoft Office Suite & Outlook; must have advanced Excel skills.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships across diverse groups.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and self-motivated, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated commitment to maintaining confidentiality and handling sensitive information with professionalism and discretion.
  • Comfortable working with individuals from diverse backgrounds, cultures, and experiences.
  • Dependable and accountable, consistently delivering high-quality work with attention to accuracy and excellence.
