Job summary

The State of Maryland's Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services (DPSCS) seeks an experienced HR leader to oversee statewide HR services and guide policy interpretation. This management role supervises six regional units and drives agency-wide HR initiatives, reporting on performance and compliance.

Ideal candidates will have a Bachelor's degree and seven years of professional HR experience, including supervisory responsibilities, within a large complex organization or public sector

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
• Seven (7) years of professional HR experience, with two (2) years in supervisory or managerial roles.
• Experience in public sector, unionized, or 24/7 operational environments preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee HR services across six regional units and provide leadership for agency-wide initiatives.
• Review Workday transactions, generate monthly operational productivity reports, and drive data-based improvements.
• Conduct semi-annual performance reviews and address disciplinary or behavioral issues as needed.
• Interpret Maryland statutes, policies, and regulations to counsel management and staff.
