Job summary

Grand Rapids Community College is seeking a Director of Human Resources Operations to lead the daily internal operations of HR. You will translate HR strategy into practical processes, supervise staff, and ensure compliant, high-quality service aligned with the college’s mission.

Responsibilities include overseeing employee relations, HRIS and data, policy administration, and process improvements. You will partner with executive leaders to enhance service delivery and the employee experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field required.
• Certification as an HR professional preferred.
• Experience in higher education and union environment preferred.
• Minimum 7 years’ experience in human resources with increasing responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct supervision and leadership to HR staff and ensure high-quality service delivery.
• Oversee daily HR operations and ensure accurate, service-focused workflow execution.
• Foster a positive, accountable HR culture across the department.
• Monitor workload balance, turnaround times, and customer service standards.
• Coordinate cross-functional teamwork across HR units.
• Translate HR strategies into operational plans and measurable outcomes.
• Oversee HRIS, data integrity, reporting, and system improvements.
• Engage college-wide activities and lead cross-functional teams.
• Uphold compliance with laws, policies, and union agreements.
