Job summary

Qualifications

  • Matriculation at an accredited college or graduate school; student status required.
  • For Level II IT-focused track, college/grad school with IT-related coursework and 9 credits.
  • For Level III IT Fellow, IT course of study in relevant area with 9 credits; appointments via Technology Steering Committee.

Responsibilities

  • Providing career counseling and guidance to interns and staff.
  • Developing, coordinating, and maintaining internship programs.
  • Assisting in creating and implementing a mentorship program.
  • Supporting compliance with Executive Orders related to employment and diversity initiatives.
  • Assisting with data collection, tracking, and reporting related to HR programs.
  • Collaborating with HR team on projects and initiatives.
  • Coordinating meetings, appointments, and HR events.
  • Compiling and maintaining accurate employee data from HR systems for operations and reporting.
  • Performing administrative tasks to support HR operations and program development.

Minimum Qualifications

For Assignment Level I:

The Office of Chief Medical Examiner investigates cases of persons who die within New York City from criminal violence, by accident, by suicide, suddenly when in apparent health, when unattended by a physician, in a correctional facility or in any suspicious or unusual manner or where an application is made pursuant to law for a permit to cremate a body of a person.

We are seeking a detail-oriented HR Operations College Aide to support our HR & LR Unit. The role will involve assisting with career counseling, internship program development and maintenance, and the creation of a mentorship program. The ideal candidate will help ensure program accuracy and support the development of initiatives that promote diversity and compliance.

Key Responsibilities Will Include
  • Providing career counseling and guidance to interns and staff.

  • Compile, organize, and maintain accurate employee data from HR systems and spreadsheets to support day-to-day HR operations and reporting.
  • Performing administrative tasks to support HR operations and program development.
Additional Information
  • Selected candidates will be required to provide a DNA sample by swabbing.

COLLEGE AIDE (ALL CITY DEPTS) - 10209

Minimum Qualifications

For Assignment Level I:

Matriculation at an accredited college or graduate school. Employment is conditioned upon continuance as a student in a college or graduate school.

For Assignment Level II (Information Technology)

Matriculation at an accredited college or graduate school. Employment is conditioned upon continuance as a student in a college or graduate school with a specific course of study in information technology, computer science, management information systems, data processing, or closely related field, including or supplemented by 9 semester credits in an acceptable course of study.

For Assignment Level III (Information Technology Fellow)

Matriculation at an accredited college or graduate school. Employment is conditioned upon continuance as a student in a college or graduate school with a specific course of study in information technology, computer science, management information systems, data processing, or other area relevant to the information technology project(s) assigned, including or supplemented by 9 semester credits in an acceptable course of study. Appointments to this Assignment Level will be made by the Technology Steering Committee through the Department of Information Technology and Telecommunications.

SPECIAL NOTE

Maximum tenure for all Assignment Levels in the title of College Aide is 6 years. No student shall be employed more than half-time in any week in which classes in which the student is enrolled are in session. Students may be employed full-time during their vacation periods.

Preferred Skills
  • Experience with HR management systems is preferred - Proficiency in MS Excel and data reporting tools - Strong attention to detail and organizational skills - Ability to analyze data and prepare clear reports - Good communication skills and ability to work collaboratively - Prior experience in HR data entry or support roles is a plus

Residency Requirement

New York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment. However, City Employees in certain titles who have worked for the City for 2 continuous years may also be eligible to reside in Nassau, Suffolk, Putnam, Westchester, Rockland, or Orange County. To determine if the residency requirement applies to you, please discuss with the agency representative at the time of interview.
