Hyster‑Yale Materials Handling, Inc. is seeking an HR Manager I to be based at the Portland, Oregon site.

The role focuses on aligning HR strategies with business objectives and leading core talent activities, including recruiting support and onboarding for new hires. The ideal candidate has 10+ years of HR experience, with a strong background in leadership coaching, employee relations, compliance, and benefits within a matrixed manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field; advanced degree or HR certification preferred.
• 10+ years of progressive HR experience, including HRBP roles.
• Experience supporting engineering, manufacturing, or technical teams.
• Experience working in a matrixed or global organization.
• Strong capabilities in leadership coaching, talent development, employee relations, compliance and benefits.

Responsibilities

• Partner with site and business leaders to align on business objectives and provide HR guidance on workforce planning, employee relations, performance, and organizational needs.
• Lead core talent activities such as recruiting support, workforce planning, performance management, succession planning, and onboarding for new hires.
• Coach managers through employee issues, team challenges, and development opportunities to create a high‑performing work environment.
• Oversee day‑to‑day HR operations, including benefits support, policy interpretation, and compliance with employment laws and company practices.
• Support organizational changes and site initiatives by helping leaders communicate effectively, manage transitions, and reinforce company culture.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field. An advanced degree or HR certification is preferred.
• Experience: 10+ years of progressive HR experience, including substantial experience in HR Business Partner roles.
• Skills and Abilities:
  • Experience supporting engineering, manufacturing, or other technical teams.
  • Strong HR experience in leadership coaching, talent development, employee relations, compliance, and benefits.
  • Experience working in a matrixed or global organization.
