CRST The Transportation Solution, Inc. in Birmingham, AL is seeking an HR Manager to lead recruiting across the Flatbed Solutions business unit and serve as the primary onsite HR resource for the Birmingham operation.

You will drive workforce planning, candidate pipelines, and day-to-day HR support to create a positive employee experience. You’ll partner with leaders to identify workforce needs, implement hiring plans, and ensure effective onboarding and policy adherence.

The Opportunity

You'll lead recruiting efforts across the operation, partnering with leaders to identify workforce needs, build candidate pipelines, and hire the talent needed to support the business as it grows.

While most of your focus will be on recruiting, you'll also serve as the primary onsite HR resource for the Birmingham operation, helping leaders and employees navigate day-to-day HR matters and ensuring a positive employee experience. This is a highly visible role with the opportunity to influence hiring decisions, workforce planning, and the future growth of Flatbed Solutions.

What You’ll Do

• Lead full-cycle recruiting efforts from intake through offer and onboarding support
• Partner with leaders on sourcing strategies, hiring plans, candidate selection, and workforce needs
• Build talent pipelines to support current and future hiring needs
• Create a positive candidate experience through clear communication and timely follow-up
• Serve as the primary onsite HR point of contact for employee and leader questions, concerns, and day-to-day HR support
• Address employee concerns, support investigations, and guide leaders through performance, documentation, corrective action, and workplace issues

• Partner with centralized HR teams on benefits, compensation, payroll, leave administration, accommodations, HR systems, and other specialized services
• Review workforce trends and recommend practical actions to improve hiring, retention, and employee experience
• Identify and implement improvements to recruiting, onboarding, communication, and HR service delivery processes.

What You Bring

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Demonstrated success independently managing full-cycle recruiting across multiple job types or business areas
• Experience addressing employee concerns, supporting investigations, advising leaders, and applying HR policies
• Ability to handle sensitive matters, evaluate risk, exercise sound judgment, and maintain confidentiality
• Ability to build trust and communicate effectively with candidates, employees, leaders, and HR partners.

Going the Extra Mile

• Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Leadership, or a related field
• Experience supporting recruiting, employee relations, and general HR activities in a blended role
• Experience serving as an onsite HR resource for a location, operation, or business group
• Experience using applicant tracking systems, HR information systems, recruiting platforms, and Microsoft Office tools
• SHRM-CP, PHR, or another relevant HR certification.
