Job summary

University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, Department of Campus Recreation, seeks a Human Resource Generalist to manage payroll, time reporting and leave, oversee HRIS and appointments, and support learning and development initiatives. The role covers compensation advice, policy adherence, and recruitment across student, hourly, and full-time positions.

The position is a 100% full-time Civil Service appointment with a starting salary in the $60,000–$65,000 range, commensurate with experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or closely related field.
• Two (2) years of professional HR experience.

Responsibilities

• Manage payroll, time reporting and leave processes, including special payments.
• Handle HR information systems and appointment management, data entry and reporting.
• Support learning, development, and career pathing initiatives for staff.
• Support organizational development and retention efforts, fostering a positive work environment.
• Support DEI training and compliance with policies and regulations.
• Coordinate student, hourly, and full-time hiring, onboarding, and postings.
