Job summary

The Melanson Company, a Tecta America Company, seeks an HR Generalist/Payroll Specialist for our Keene, NH office. This role manages daily HR operations including payroll, recruiting, policy administration, and employee records, partnering with leadership to support a compliant, efficient workforce.

Key duties include processing weekly payroll for 120–160 staff, time entry oversight, benefits billing, data integrity, and regulatory compliance, with opportunities to influence HR programs and

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related discipline.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience performing computerized payroll processing.
• 4 to 5 years’ experience administering HR programs.
• Strong analytical skills with numbers and spreadsheets.
• Ability to build relationships at all levels.
• Ability to travel to other operating units occasionally.

Responsibilities

• Process weekly in-house payroll for 120–160 employees.
• Oversee and review remote time entry and salaried time.
• Process, review and issue weekly paychecks and earnings statements.
• Prepare payroll reports for management and accounting.
• Transmit direct deposits and 401(k) and agency payments.
• Maintain payroll records and compliance.
• Handle monthly benefits billing and special payrolls as needed.
• Prepare Certified Payroll filings as required.
• Manage vacation accruals.
• Recruitment support: post vacancies, review resumes, and assist hiring managers.
• Maintain employee files and HR filing system.
• Assist with employee relations and policy interpretation.
• Support development and updates to employee handbook.
