Job summary

The Mental Health Association in Chicopee, MA seeks an HR Generalist to administer a broad range of human resources programs and initiatives for all employees. The role coordinates onboarding compliance, background checks, leave administration, HRIS maintenance, and staff support, acting as a liaison to ensure policy consistency and legal compliance.

This 100% on-site position reports to the Director of Human Resources and requires a proactive, detail-oriented professional to support a compliant

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in HR, business admin or related field preferred.
• Minimum of one year working in a human resources role.
• Detail-oriented with accuracy in HR records and compliance.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Able to work independently and across departments.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate onboarding compliance, background checks, and new-hire requirements.
• Serve as a point of contact for employee HR questions and documentation.
• Maintain knowledge of local, state, and federal employment laws.
• Collaborate with managers to ensure fair HR practices and compliant workplace.
• Prepare for external HR audits and address findings.
• Manage onboarding in payroll systems and keep HRIS records current.
• Oversee leaves of absence lifecycle and ADA/FMLA compliance.
• Communicate leave policies and support employees through the process.
