Job summary

GoochlandCares is seeking an experienced Human Resources Generalist to enhance our employee experience and drive people-centric improvements. The role partners with the CFO and HR Director to strengthen recruitment, onboarding, development, and HR technology usage.

Ideal candidates have a strong HR background, possess or pursue PHR/SHRM-CP, with 3+ years of HR experience and a proven ability to implement process improvements in a nonprofit setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in HR, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
• PHR, SHRM-CP, or the ability to obtain certification within two years preferred.
• Three or more years of human resources experience preferred, with demonstrated career progression.
• Experience with Paylocity platform preferred.
• Working knowledge of federal and Virginia employment laws and HR best practices.
• Strong organizational, communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
• Position will be primarily on-site at GoochlandCares with limited remote work.

Responsibilities

• Own day-to-day HR operations and recruitment processes.
• Develop, deliver, and evaluate training programs and leadership development initiatives.
• Administer benefits programs and coordinate with brokers and vendors.
• Serve as primary HR contact for employees and managers; support complex employee relations with the HR Director.
• Monitor compliance with federal, state, and organizational requirements; track licenses and certifications.
• Analyze workforce metrics and generate leadership reports; support talent initiatives.
