Job summary

iHerb is seeking an HR Generalist to provide on-site support to the Warehouse/Distribution center team and HR Operations. You will work with the onsite HR Business Partner on employee relations, performance management, coaching, and retention, while collaborating with other HR teams on projects.

Responsibilities include handling employee complaints, leaves, policy guidance, performance support, unemployment claims, and cross-team HR support. A Bachelor’s in HR is required; SPHR/PHR preferred.

  • 2–5 years of HR experience with emphasis on Employee Relations and Leave Administration.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources; SPHR/PHR certification or related field preferred.
  • Knowledge of FMLA, CFRA, PDL, USERRA, ADA, and Worker’s Compensation laws.

Responsibilities

  • Investigate, document, and resolve employee complaints/grievances.
  • Assist with leaves of absence and related paperwork.
  • Provide advice on policies, procedures, and documentation.
  • Coordinate resolution of policy-related problems and inquiries.
  • Support performance management and Pay-for-Performance initiatives.
  • Review and approve warnings, coaching plans, and performance snapshots.

Job Summary

The Human Resources (HR) Generalist will primarily provide on-site support to our Warehouse/Distribution center team and support HR Operations. You will work closely with the onsite HR Business Partner on employee relations issues, performance management, coaching, counseling, team member development, and retention. You may also partner with other HR teams on additional duties and projects.

Responsibilities
  • Investigate, document, and resolve employee complaints/grievances, including peer, supervisor, sexual harassment, and discrimination concerns.
  • Assist with employee leaves of absence (Federal, State, and company), including discussions with employees, processing paperwork, tracking benefits premium payments, and communicating with employees on leave.
  • Provide advice, assistance, and follow-up on company policies, procedures, and documentation.
  • Coordinate the resolution of specific policy-related and procedural problems and inquiries.
  • Support in performance management, collaborating with department managers and supervisors to support Pay for Performance initiatives.
  • Review, edit, and approve team member written warnings, coaching plans, and performance snapshots prior to issuance.
  • Make recommendations to management regarding separation of employment for specific employees.
  • Engage in clear and persuasive conversations providing benefits, and State and Federal information to employees.
  • Respond to unemployment claims, verbally and in writing, in a timely manner if needed.
  • Provide support to other HR teams in recruitment, engagement, benefits, wellness, recognition, and communication.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Fluent in English; bilingual in Spanish preferred.
  • Knowledge of FMLA, CFRA, PDL, USERRA, ADA, and Worker’s Compensation laws (Federal and California).
  • Hands-on experience with processing documentation, interactive process discussions, and managing records.
  • Knowledge of multiple HR disciplines and Federal/State employment and benefit laws.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to analyze data and provide recommendations.
  • Professional appearance and ability to project a positive company image.
  • Analytical, with the ability to identify strengths and weaknesses of solutions and approaches.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and independently resolve issues; ability to travel locally as needed.
Experience Requirements

Generally requires 2–5 years of experience in Human Resources with emphasis on Employee Relations and Leave Administration. HR Generalist experience in other HR areas is preferred.

Education Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources; SPHR/PHR certification or related field preferred, or a combination of education and equivalent work experience.

Equipment Knowledge

Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite; ability to create spreadsheets in Excel. HRIS experience is a plus. Ability to use copiers, computers, and other office-related equipment.

Judgment/Reasoning Ability

Able to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve problems quickly using sound judgment, poise, and diplomacy. Ability to escalate issues timely when required.

Physical Demands

Regularly required to talk and hear; frequently sit, walk, climb stairs, use hands and fingers, bend, stoop, and reach. May lift or move office products and supplies up to 25 pounds. Proper lifting techniques should be used. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.

Work Environment

Moderate noise level; fast-paced with multi-level distractions. Professional yet casual office/workstation environment (Office/Warehouse). Ability to work extended hours as required.

Compensation

The expected salary range for this role is 70,000–85,000 USD. Final base pay will depend on experience, education, geographic location, and internal equity.
