University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign seeks an HR Generalist for the Natural Resources & Environmental Sciences unit. The role manages diverse HR activities and supports complex HR issues, with responsibilities spanning compliance, appointments, payroll, time reporting, recruitment, onboarding, and leave management.

The position is a 100% full-time Civil Service 5020 – Human Resource Associate, with a salary in the budgeted range of $50,000–$62,000 and start date as soon as possible.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in HR/Administration, Management, Organizational Administration, Public Administration, Labor Relations, Business Administration or a closely related field.
• Two (2) years of professional-level HR duties.

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with HR policies and legal requirements through tracking and training.
• Coordinate appointments, payroll, time reporting, and data/report accuracy.
• Lead recruitment, onboarding, and work authorization processes for varied hiring needs.
• Administer and track leave (FMLA/PLFA) and counsel on leave policies.
• Serve as main HR point of contact for calls, visitors, and email.
