Job summary

SkyChefs is seeking an HR Generalist in Miami, FL to support HR policies, labor relations, and high-volume recruitment in a fast-paced aviation catering operation. This on-site role requires strong knowledge of employment laws and hands-on experience across benefits, wage increases, and retirement programs.

The position expects 1–4 years of HR experience, a bachelor’s degree preferred, and the ability to work flexible hours including early mornings and weekends.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
  • 1–4 years of progressive HR experience.
  • Working knowledge of federal and state employment laws.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Support HR policies and programs for union and non-union employees in CSC or local unit.
  • Administer HR policies with SMEs on benefits, wage increases, retirement, etc.
  • Source, recruit, interview and staff various positions.
  • Lead hourly recruitment and retention; develop staffing plans and sources; analyze data.
  • Liaise with union or non-union employees to resolve concerns.
  • Assist in administering Master National Agreement grievance procedures.
  • Assist with DOT and non-DOT drug testing programs.
  • Audit clerical activities for accuracy and adherence to standards.
  • Deliver or facilitate CSC and company training and development programs.
  • Assist with employee engagement activities rollout.
  • Attend unemployment hearings as needed.
  • Assist with miscellaneous HR functions.

Role Purpose Statement

The Human Resources Generalistsupports the effective administration and execution of Human Resources policies, programs, and labor agreements within an airline catering or aviation services operation. This role ensures compliance with federal, state, aviation-related, and labor regulations while serving as a trusted advisor to leadership and employees. The position manages employee relations, union interactions, and high-volume recruiting activities for a fast-paced, safety-sensitive local unit.

Main Accountabilities
  • Support the implementation of Human Resources (HR) policies and programs for union and non-union employees in Customer Service Center (CSC) or local unit (i.e. ARH).
  • Administer or work in conjunction with subject matter experts (SMEs) regarding HR policies and procedures including employee benefits, wage increases, retirement, etc.
  • Source, recruit, interview and select quality employees to staff various positions
  • Act as primary driver of hourly recruitment and retention activities to include development of staffing plans and the growth of recruitment sources; analyze data to improve quality of recruitment sources
  • Act as first line liaison with union or non-union employees, facilitating resolution of employee concerns
  • Assist in the administration of Master National Agreement (MNA) grievance procedures as required
  • Assist with Department of Transportation (DOT) random drug and alcohol testing program and company non DOT pre-employment drug testing programs as required
  • Support auditing of clerical activities for accuracy and adherence to standards
  • Deliver and / or facilitate CSC and company required training and development programs
  • Assist in planning and rollout of employee engagement activities
  • Attend unemployment hearings as needed
  • Assist with miscellaneous HR functions as assigned
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred; equivalent combination of education and experience considered.
  • One to four years of progressive Human Resources experience, preferably in a unionized, manufacturing, transportation, food production, or aviation environment.

  • Working knowledge of federal and state employment laws, labor relations principles, and their practical application in a fast-paced operational setting.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; capable of effectively interacting with employees, union representatives, and all levels of management.
  • Team-oriented professional with demonstrated leadership capability and a high level of integrity.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, or holidays, as required by airline operations.
Certifications
  • Professional in Human Resources (PHR) or Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) certification preferred.
