Job summary

Midwest Landscape Industries, Inc. is seeking an HR Generalist to support our human resources function in a hands-on capacity. This on-site role includes recruiting, onboarding, employee relations, benefits administration, and ensuring compliance with applicable laws.

You will maintain HRIS data, coordinate payroll integration, oversee performance management, and contribute to retention efforts. A bachelor's degree and 3–5 years of HR generalist experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in HR or related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
• 3–5 years progressive HR experience, generalist preferred.
• Experience with employee relations, recruitment, onboarding, benefits, and compliance.
• Knowledge of federal and Indiana employment laws; confidential records handling.

• Recruiting and onboarding: Coordinate hiring of field laborers, foremen, supervisors, and administrative employees.
• Employee relations: Address employee concerns, disciplinary actions, attendance issues, and terminations.
• Benefits administration: Coordinate medical, dental, vision, and 401(k) enrollment.
• HR compliance: Maintain personnel files, I-9 documentation, and compliance with applicable employment laws.
• Performance management: Coordinate employee evaluations and documentation.
• HR systems: Maintain employee information and coordinate with payroll.
• Employee retention: Support employee engagement initiatives and reduce field employee turnover.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Management, or a related field; equivalent relevant work experience may be considered.
• Minimum of 3–5 years of progressive human resources experience, preferably in a generalist capacity.
• Experience supporting a workforce consisting of both hourly and salaried employees.
• Demonstrated experience with employee relations, recruitment, onboarding, benefits administration, and HR compliance.
• Working knowledge of federal and Indiana employment laws and regulations.
• Experience maintaining confidential employee records and personnel documentation.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
• Experience using Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS) and payroll platforms.
• The role is on-site Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM with a one hour lunch break from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM.
