Job summary

Southland Industries is seeking an HR Coordinator to provide HR Shared Services support in talent management, employee engagement, and HR operations. You will handle onboarding, HCM system support, background checks, and payroll-related tasks while collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive culture and satisfaction.

The role emphasizes confidentiality, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage HR processes.

Qualifications

  • High school degree (bachelor’s degree preferred).
  • 3-4 years of HR Coordinator/HR Administrative experience.
  • HCM System experience (Workday).
  • Onboarding and Pre-Employment experience.
  • Experience with processing background checks and drug screens.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Good communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality when required by policy or by law.
  • Strong technology skills and experience.

Responsibilities

  • Support onboarding tasks including pre-employment, offer letters, and system profile set up tasks.
  • Review new hire paperwork for completeness and accuracy and process accordingly.
  • Complete employment verifications.
  • Process background checks and drug screens.
  • E-Verify new hire employment eligibility by accessing the government website and entering employee information from Form I-9.
  • Assist in maintaining accurate applicant/employee information tracking and filing.
  • Maintain employee file system (electronic and hard copy).
  • Maintain confidentiality as required by policy or law.
  • Assist with preparing related statistical reports.
  • Assist other HR personnel with clerical needs.
  • Assist with telephone inquiries regarding employee benefits and company policies; escalate when needed.
  • May track benefit status and update payroll deductions.
  • Respond to unemployment claims.
  • Perform additional assignments as requested.
