Job summary

HCVT is seeking a Manager/Senior Manager, HR Compliance & Employee Relations to lead multi-state compliance with a focus on California. You will serve as a trusted advisor to firm leadership, manage HR policies, and guide employee relations across offices and remote populations.

You will develop and mentor HR staff, oversee investigations, and partner with counsel on complex matters, while driving programs aligned with the firm’s growth and culture.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in HR, business administration, or related field.
• 7+ years of progressive HR experience with deep employment compliance and employee relations.
• Experience conducting workplace investigations and advising leaders on performance management and disciplinary actions.
• Thorough understanding of federal, state, and local employment laws with multi-state experience.
• California employment law expertise; exposure to Utah, Colorado, Arizona, New York, and Texas is a plus.
• Experience leading HR policy development with external counsel.
• Strong judgment, discretion, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead multi-state employment compliance program with emphasis on California.
• Update employee handbook with counsel and stakeholders to reflect legal requirements.
• Oversee audits of HR policies and records and coordinate corrective actions.
• Oversee I-9 compliance and immigration matters with counsel as appropriate.
• Serve as the primary HR advisor for employee relations firm-wide; guide managers on performance issues and separations.
• Coach managers to address performance, disciplinary actions, and PIPs effectively and consistently.
• Develop scalable employee relations processes and decision-making frameworks.
• Manage and develop HR team members and collaborate with HR leadership on strategy.
