LIVE, LLC (Living Invigorating Valuable Experiences) seeks an experienced Classification Specialist to support a federal client in Washington, DC. This full-time, on-site role at the FTC headquarters includes telework discretionary by agency.

The selected candidate will lead on-site classification work, oversee PD quality, and interface with client representatives. Please note that the position is contingent upon award and approval.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience.
  • 10+ years of federal classification experience.
  • Experience classifying positions across grades and job families.
  • SES and SL classification experience.
  • Experience drafting policies and SOPs using OPM standards.
  • Working knowledge of 5 U.S.C. Chapter 51; 5 CFR Parts 214, 511, and 551; and OPM Classification Standards.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct classification evaluations for GS, SES, SL, and other federal positions.
  • Develop and revise Position Descriptions (PDs), evaluation statements, OF-8 cover sheets, FLSA determinations, and coding recommendations.
  • Perform desk audits, employee/supervisor interviews, and position management reviews, including accretion-of-duties requests.
  • Support executive resources classification (SES, SL, political appointees) and PD development.
  • Provide expert consultation on complex classification issues and transfer knowledge to build internal agency capacity.
  • Support agency-wide classification projects such as PD updates and classification standard application reviews.

Job description

LIVE, LLC (Living Invigorating Valuable Experiences) is a federal professional services firm specializing in HR consulting, personnel security, business process optimization, and workforce development. We support federal agencies with expert human capital solutions and are seeking an experienced Classification Specialist to support a federal client in Washington, DC.

Position Summary

We are seeking for a contingent position a senior federal Classification Specialist to provide expert-level position classification and position management support to a federal Human Capital Management Office. This is a full-time, on-site role at the Federal Trade Commission's Washington DC headquarters, with telework permitted only at the agency's discretion. The selected candidate will also serve as the on-site Team Lead and as key personnel, responsible for quality control of all work products and direct interface with the client's technical and contracting representatives.

Please note that this position is contingent upon receiving of award.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct classification evaluations for General Schedule (GS), Senior Executive Service (SES), Senior Level (SL), and other federal positions
  • Develop and revise Position Descriptions (PDs), evaluation statements, OF-8 cover sheets, FLSA determinations, and coding recommendations
  • Perform desk audits, employee/supervisor interviews, and position management reviews, including accretion-of-duties requests
  • Support executive resources classification (SES, SL, political appointees) and PD development
  • Provide expert consultation on complex classification issues and transfer knowledge to build internal agency capacity

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree, or equivalent professional experience.
  • 10+ years of experience applying federal classification standards and position management principles.
  • Demonstrated experience classifying positions across all grade levels and job families.
  • SES and SL classification experience.
  • Experience drafting policies and SOPs and applying OPM classification standards.
  • Working knowledge of 5 U.S.C. Chapter 51; 5 CFR Parts 214, 511, and 551; and OPM Classification Standards, the Classifier's Handbook, and the Occupational Group Handbook.
Eligibility Requirements
  • Must be able to pass a federal background investigation and obtain HSPD-12 PIV credentials.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. and clear E-Verify.
  • Must have resided in the U.S. for at least three of the past five years.
  • Must be registered with Selective Service, if applicable.
